Sponsoring Golf Outing on May 14 at Crab Meadow to Benefit

The Tigers basketball players group, "Hoops" of Northport, is very pleased to present its Sixth Annual Golf Outing on Monday, May 14 at the Crab Meadow Golf Course.

Nearly 100 golfers are expected to attend, with proceeds once again to benefit St. Philip Neri's renovated Daniel Trant Recreation Center.

One of Northport's finest youth basketball and soccer coaches around during his time, Trant was first and foremost a bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center.

Like thousands of other loyal, dedicated and hard-working New Yorkers on September 11, 2001, Trant--a father of three--had his life taken away from him due to the terrorist attacks.

Trant's son, Dan, stars as the point guard on the Northport High School boys varsity basketball team, and looks to have an even better senior season next winter for coach George Franck.

Dan's father was the very last pick of the 1984 NBA Draft, selected by the Boston Celtics, 225 picks after Michael Jordan was selected by the Chicago Bulls. His very active life included playing professionally in Ireland and organizing the CYO basketball program in Northport.

"We are very pleased to host this event once again to benefit the recreation center named after our friend, Dan Trant," commented event director Mark Kelczka. "We're looking forward to a sunny spring day of competitive golf."

The golf outing begins with registration at 1 pm. Shotgun golf starts at 2 pm, with dinner, prizes, raffles and a live auction following golf. The cost is $150 for one player and $600 for a foursome.
