Sponsoring "Hoops" Golf Outing to Benefit Trant Rec Center
(The Times of Northport, May 10, 2007)
Northport's basketball players group, "Hoops" of Northport, is pleased to present its Sixth Annual Golf Outing on Monday, May 14 at the Crab Meadow Golf Course in Northport. Nearly 100 golfers are expected to attend, with proceeds once again to benefit St. Philip Neri's renovated Daniel Trant Recreation Center.

Youth basketball and soccer coach Daniel Trant was a bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center. The father of three perished at the age of 40 on September 11, 2001. Trant was the very last pick of the 1984 NBA Draft, selected by the Boston Celtics, 225 picks after Michael Jordan was selected by the Chicago Bulls. His very active life included playing professionally in Ireland and organizing the CYO basketball program in Northport.

"We are very pleased to host this event once again to benefit the rec center named after our friend, Dan Trant," commented event director Mark Kelczka. "We're looking forward to a sunny spring day of competitive golf."

The golf outing begins with registration at 1 pm. Shotgun golf starts at 2 pm, with dinner, prizes, raffles and a live auction following golf. The cost is $150 for one player and $600 for a foursome.

Corporate sponsors include Bushell, Kleczka & Minasi, LifeVentures Corp and Select Life Settlement Corporation.
