Growing List of Providers and Investors Working With Select Life Settlement Corporation
(Long Island.com, February 9, 2007)
Select Life Settlement Corporation is very pleased to announce that a growing list of life settlement providers and investors are working with us in our second year of operation. All have passed a rigorous due diligence process to comply with our standards and all applicable regulations. Our approved panel of licensed life settlement providers now includes over 20 entities operating in virtually every state and jurisdiction.
Select Life Settlement Corporation helps seniors to receive full value for unwanted or unneeded life insurance policies. In this transaction known as a life settlement, a policyholder receives a sum which is generally significantly higher than the surrender value. We currently have policies in various stages of the settlement process with an average of five new cases coming in from across the United States every week. With an in-depth knowledge of life insurance products, we know how to maximize their value as life settlements. A secondary market of banks, insurance companies and hedge funds are willing to pay for policies that qualify.
“Agents bring policies to us,” commented Co-Managing Director Steve Shorrock. “We send out for the medical information on the policyholder, package it up and send to these providers.”
The providers then market to approximately 100 investment groups in the secondary market. These providers then compete to bid on good policies and Select Life Settlement Corporation works to create the highest value for the policyholder.
Shorrock was President of Bankers Life of New York in Woodbury from 1990 to 2003, then Chief Operating Officer of Improved Funding Techniques. He has achieved the insurance and financial planning designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Long-Term Care Consultant (CLTC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
Russel Dorsett, our other Co-Managing Director, has served as Managing Director and CEO of AIA Australia, a life insurance company, as well as AIA Superannuation Company, an Approved Trustee for Australian Retirement Plans. Dorsett, a Texas native, has held the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation for nearly three decades.
“Life settlements are a wonderful exit strategy for those who don’t need their life insurance anymore,” Dorsett added. “Sellers could put that money toward living expenses, long-term care needs, the education needs of their grandchildren or to make a large tax-deductible donation to charity.”
